Marathon SP213820 Titanium Fused 3800w Upper Element

The SP213820 is a replacement titanium fused upper element for use with 3800 watt Marathon water heaters. This element is a replacement upper element for the following Marathon water heaters:

• MR40238
• MR50238
• MR75238
• MR85238
• MR105238
• MSR50238
• MHD85238
• MHD105238

Element Selection
It's very important to choose the correct model number when purchasing a replacement element for your water heater. There are distinct differences between upper and lower elements as well as the type of element being purchased. Here is a brief outline of the different types of Marathon elements available:

• Standard Elements - Standard elements are made of copper and are the default for upper elements in all new Marathon water heaters. Copper elements used to be standard for lower elements in older Marathon models, but Rheem has now moved to using stainless steel for lower elements.
• Stainless Steel Elements - The new standard for lower heating elements. Stainless steel elements provide better resistance from harsh water conditions than standard copper elements.
• Titanium Elements - These provide the maximum protection from harsh water conditions. Titanium elements are only a factory standard in Marathon's heavy duty line of water heaters, however they can be purchased for all Marathon models.

Please be sure to use only fused elements for the upper element on all Marathon water heater models. Fused elements provide the necessary protection against dry firing a Marathon water heater.
